I know, I know. You might be thinking that the Olympics are old news by this point. But there is at least one portion of the closing ceremonies which is worth immortalizing.
It's nearing the end of the show. NBC has just returned from a commercial break. A familiar, silky smooth voice starts radiating from my TV, singing the tune "Maple Leaf Forever". I've heard that crooning before. But no! It can't be... can it??
It IS! It's Michael Buble all decked out as a Canadian Mountie!
The Mountie getup was quickly ripped from his back by a couple of flirtatious dancers, only to reveal a much more Buble-esque white suit... but the image of "Michael the Mountie" will forever be imprinted in my mind.
Props to the producers of the show, who looked beyond the oft-touted Canadian "rockers" like Avril Lavigne and Nickelback and thought to include Buble in the show. It definitely made for a night to remember.
